I've watched this business panic four times.

Cable was going to kill television advertising. Digital was going to kill photography. The internet was going to kill print, and then it did. Each time somebody stood on a stage and told everyone the old rules were finished. I was in the room for those. I'm in the room for this one.
The Beauty in Aging
Mixed Media Works by Ron Arnold
This series began over a decade ago, in a different chapter of my life.
I was drawn to the quiet, often overlooked beauty of dying flowers - sunflowers, daisies, peonies - captured not in bloom, but in the moment after: when the color fades, the petals curl, and something more mysterious takes hold.
Back then, I worked instinctively—photographing, painting, layering images in a kind of meditation on time.
Today, having walked through a long night of the soul and come out the other side, I see these pieces with new eyes. They’re no longer just portraits of natural decay, but mirrors of dignity, resilience, and grace in the face of change.
Aging, like art, is a process of subtraction - of letting go, and in that letting go, revealing something essential.
These works are love letters to that process.
They invite the viewer not to turn away from what fades, but to lean in, and see it anew.
